When I first started my business, I happened upon a small furniture store just opening called Cantoni. The staff of Pogier and Debbie were accommodating and so friendly. I met the owner Michael that day too and as we talked about our businesses I realized what a delightful man he is and since that time we have had a great relationship with the growth of Cantoni from staging the opening of their then new Cantoni store in Dallas with so many styles of our artificial trees and florals followed by the second store opening in Houston and then again in Irvine, California. Whether it's creations for the visual department for floor venues or creating trees and florals to accent the Cantoni furnishings in so many homes with the great design staff is truly an exciting part of my career. We have worked together several years for exciting styles for The Parade of Homes and for photo shoots.
Another great adventure in my history was one of my first sales call to the Jim Bagwell floral store originally on McKinney avenue. At that time, I was new to Dallas and had no idea that I was approaching such a wonderful designer. I just thought the converted home on McKinney avenue was appealing and thought I would stop in. It wasn't until after Jim Bagwell himself placed an order, and I was working on filling the order, did I realize that the "famous" floral artist himself was buying from me! It was probably good at that time that I didn't know or I would have had stage fright and never approached him as I was just starting my career.
Avant Gardens of Silk was also asked to go to New Jersey to build trees for the new "Landrys" Restaurant on the shoreline with the awesome view of New York City lights. We spent a couple days building custom trees and eating well. A sister restaurant in Houston was also one of our great build and eat well adventures. Eating well? Yes we enjoyed great burgers at the Hard Rock Café too in downtown Dallas while decorating their entire restaurant and private club for Christmas for several years.
I have also had the privilege of spending a day decorating the Dallas Convention center for an Oprah show being filmed there.
